The GMI team in Burundi has seen firsthand the miserable conditions and lack of hope facing the growing population of street children in the country. To share God’s love with them, the team has developed a plan to reach these children and even their families with the gospel while meeting their physical needs. This project would help place children with extended family and provide schooling. The initial goal is to start with ten children supplying them with basic needs such as clothes, shoes, school uniforms, books and transport for the first year of school. During this time, the children will be placed with adoptive families. The families will also learn to tailor and be given a sewing machine in order to provide additional income. After three years, the families will take full responsibility for the care of these children. The GMI team in Burundi will be working with government and private entities to realize their goals. Team members Method and Omelina look forward to compassionately share God’s grace with the objective of leading these children and families into a saving and transformational relationship with Jesus Christ. They also look forward to getting more and more integrated into the community in the capital of Bujumbura as they plant churches and train leaders. The amount needed to raise is $6571 for the first year, and $15283 for three years.
