Tanzania Plateau Training Center

Tanzania Plateau Training Center

Ted and Kim Rabenold are part of GMI’s team serving in Tanzania. They have been working with farmers living at 7,200 feet above sea level to help them plant different crops, raise other kinds of livestock, and plant a variety of trees at this altitude which will thrive and help them diversify their income source for their families. The Rabenolds’ desire to impact the Rukwa region for the gospel has led them to build and establish a training center on the Ufipa Plateau for discipling and training local people. This project would allow them to expand what they are already doing in the high elevation area directly to the west of where they live in the Rukwa Valley. We ask you to consider giving towards this project of a Plateau Training Center and Living Quarters.

As part of the training center’s outreach into the Rukwa Valley they are also building a pottery workshop for making/firing stoneware pottery. This will enable them to develop relationships (discipleship and hands-on training) with local people while training them to utilize sustainable-renewable natural resources to make a better living. It will also give them an opportunity to be involved in shaping and developing regional art while providing another platform to share the gospel. The pottery workshop would be a 20-foot by 30-foot building with an additional porch for straining and cleaning locally quarried clay. This building will house 4 locally made ceramic kick wheels and a pottery kiln capable of reaching stoneware temperatures of 2,300 F.
