Cause for Celebration in Malawi!

In the last couple of weeks, GMI missionaries Eric and Mercy Mango have seen the Lord move among the Yao people in Malawi in some unbelievable ways. With joy Eric shares, “Thought of not keeping this exciting news to ourselves, three sheikhs have made a decision for Christ today! In a long-sleeved shirt is a teacher of Islam, he trains sheikhs. He taught his last madrassa class today, he says he will no longer do it now that he has known the truth.” Pray for Eric as he disciples these men and as they return to their families and communities where they will undoubtedly face opposition. The Yao are 99% Muslim.

One of the vehicles for training new believers is the outreach center the Mangos are developing. Recently, a well was drilled on the center’s property. The Mangos write, “Not sure I have seen an expression of happiness like this before! Yao women dancing at our youth/outreach center as the well was being drilled. It’s been a day of enormous celebration in the community. Water was more than a need in this community. Women could wake up around 3 am to go to a distant well to line up for water and get back home around 9 am. Sometimes they could come back without water if there are many people and the well dries up. We are grateful to the Lord for providing water for this community. This will definitely speak volumes as we share the love of Christ with them, ‘living water’! Praise the Lord!” Check out the video below.
