Flooding in Burundi

Gatumba is a town 15 kilometers outside of the capital, Bujumbura, situated on the northern end of Lake Tanganyika.  GMI team members Method and Omelina Mwendapole have been leading Bible studies there for several months with leaders and members from two congregations.  Recently, a flood devastated a significant part of the town affecting 12,000 of the town’s inhabitants.  Our GMI team in Burundi has been contributing funds to help buy tents and food for the flood victims.  These tragic circumstances, however, have also given Method an opportunity to share the gospel.  He writes, “My wife and I bought the aid and brought it to Gatumba in front of the leaders and it was distributed in a very good order. I was given the opportunity to preach the gospel there and many of them offered a prayer of repentance to receive Jesus.”
