At the end of May, GMI Executive Director, Jeremy Clark, took a trip to Panama to visit with the GMI team (the Barrantes and Mackensens) and meet the people they are serving. Until recently, the ministry in the city of David moved along steadily, albeit slowly. With government restrictions on meetings through much of 2020 and even into 2021, it was difficult to gain traction. However, this year Grace Bible Community has turned a corner with several new families consistently attending this GMI-affiliated church plant. Jeremy Clark shares, “On a Wednesday night, I attended a Bible study at the church. We had to keep adding tables as the attendance grew. Three new attendees at the study told me they started attending because Grace Bible Community faithfully teaches God’s Word. GMI team member, Alvaro Barrantes, taught the study that night. All those present appreciated his knowledge of the Scriptures and his simple way of explaining complicated concepts.” We are grateful for the GMI team’s perseverance in Panama through difficult times and for the Lord honoring this hard work. Pray for the Barrantes and Mackensens as they continue investing in this new church plant and that God will continue to “give the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6-8)!
