GMI team members Luis and Marcia Coto open the home they rent to their growing church plant, Comunidad Bíblica de la Gracia (Grace Bible Community), in Mérida, Mexico. In fact, they chose this particular home because it could accommodate a group of 30-40 people. The (good) problem is they have grown out of their space. On Friday evenings, over forty gather for a Bible study which focuses on some deeper theological topics. On Saturday, the youth group, marriage group and a women’s group meet utilizing every bit of their home. Sunday is when it gets interesting. Their principle meeting space is a living room into which 40 people can pack themselves. Before the service, Luis asks those who are part of the leadership of the church to be prepared to give up their seat. During this past Sunday’s service, one by one, these leaders got up and left as newer attendees or visitors came in and sat down. There were nearly 60 in attendance! After the service, those who sat in the living room came back into the meeting room to receive a summary of the message. This is a typical weekend for Luis and Marcia and their church plant in Mexico.
