Tanzania
Tanzania is located in East Africa, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the east and Lake Tanganyika on its West. Tanzania is a country of religious freedom and Swahili is its national language. There are 72 Grace Churches in Tanzania where our missionaries work in evangelism, church planting, theological education, and community development.
One of the main focuses in the Rukwa Region is the Discipleship of men and women done in concert with Community Development. This work is both spiritual and physical, inspiring Tanzanians to reach their brothers and sisters with the Good News of Christ, while simultaneously utilizing natural resources to help their families make a better living.
Outreach opportunities including clean water projects, agricultural initiatives and innovative uses of natural resources motivate and encourage people in this remote part of Tanzania.
Additionally there has been a recent emphasis in reaching Muslim communities along the coastal areas and islands of Tanzania as GMI missionaries train and equip indigenous cross-cultural workers/missionaries to go to places where there has historically been little to no Christianity.
