Malawi 5-Ton Truck

Malawi 5-Ton Truck

A 5-ton truck is needed in Malawi to transport building materials during construction; manure and organic residue for compost making; and people for conferences, training, and sports. The trucks they have been hiring are owned by Muslims. Using them gives room for information on activities, plans, and ideas on how we are running the ministry. This also creates insecurity, especially with the recent events of vandalizing properties owned by Christians. The use of this truck by teams and churches will not be free. We will include gas as well as wear and tear charges for everyone using the truck which will go towards maintenance of the vehicle.

We have determined that 45% of the building and training expenses go towards transport which affects the budget of various projects due to the fact that most materials have to be purchased outside of Machinga District. The cost of materials purchased locally is also high because of the distance between the Youth Center and the suppliers. We face the same challenge when making compost during training for farming. This also consumes a lot of time, and preparations are often affected. Purchasing a truck will help reduce the cost of transport on materials during construction and ferrying people for training conferences and sports (the picture is a sports team being transported).
