Kennedy & Sofia Simtowe
Kennedy Simtowe was born to Christian parents in Tanzania. His father, Pearson Simtowe, was the head pastor of the Grace churches in Tanzania for many years but was killed while riding his bicycle in Sumbawanga, Tanzania, in January 2010. Kennedy grew up at the Tatanda mission station with Dan Moyer. After high school he attended Bible College in Kenya graduating in 1988. Upon his return to Tanzania he worked with the youth in Tatanda, as well as serving as administrator of the hospital. In 1995 the Lord led him to reach into the country of Zambia and he was responsible, with Pastor Jack Siame, for getting the Grace Church in Zambia formed and registered with the government. He was joined by Dan and Tina Moyer in 1997 and together they started Zambia Grace Bible Institute as the training center for our churches. Kennedy and Sofia moved to Malawi in 2005 where Kennedy served as GMI’s field director until 2014. Kennedy has a great burden for evangelism and he now heads up the efforts to begin new works in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
Sofia Simtowe is also a Tanzanian but she received her training to become a nurse-midwife in Zambia. After her education she returned to Tanzania where she worked as a midwife and also married Kennedy. They have four children: Stella, Frank, Ben, and Cecilia. Sofia taught in the Bible Institute before the Simtowes moved to Malawi in January 2005.
Now Kennedy and Sofia have been led to Mozambique where since the end of 2016 they have been working to get Grace Ministries International registered in that country so the ministries can be established there. The people of Mozambique need to hear the gospel, learn the Word of God, and be trained to teach others.
