Jerry & Sandi Bomers
Jerry and Sandi met on a spring break missions trip to Puerto Rico while attending Grace Bible College (now Grace Christian University). Both developed a heart for sharing the gospel in other cultures and desired to one day serve God overseas. After graduating from Grace Bible College, Jerry and Sandi lived in Wyoming, MI, where they began their life together and were blessed with two children, Addison and Clayton. Jerry and Sandi had been challenged by their burden for missions during their first five years of marriage, when God began to open doors for them to serve in the country of Paraguay. Since moving to Paraguay in 2016, they have been blessed with the addition of their third child Coralea.
Jerry was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan. His mother worked hard to keep him involved in church ministries almost every night of the week and contributed greatly to his spiritual growth. Jerry felt the calling to full-time ministry as a high school student and went on to pursue youth ministry at Grace Bible College (GBC). While at GBC, Jerry felt a passion for foreign missions while participating in multiple short-term trips. He later changed his major and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. Jerry worked for several years as a mental health clinician and is grateful for the experiences and knowledge he gained.
Sandi was born in Harare, Zimbabwe, and lived as a missionary kid in Kenya most of her life. Growing up Sandi appreciated the rich experiences only missionary kids get to have. Her father, Dan Spooner, was a missionary pilot who mostly served other missionaries and her mother, Nancy, worked at a guesthouse. Her parents were a great example of people willing to serve the Lord wherever they were called and significantly contributed to Sandi’s desire to serve. In Sandi’s later teenage years and during college, she began to develop a deeper personal relationship with the Lord and felt a strong desire to follow Him.
Jerry and Sandi have been living in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, since November 2017. During that time they have worked with Alex and Deltha Gulart to establish the first Grace church in Paraguay, Iglesia Bíblica Gracia, with plans to plant more churches with an emphasis on the Word. Ciudad del Este is a very diverse city providing many opportunities for reaching individuals from numerous countries and cultures. Even while learning Spanish, Jerry and Sandi were able to lead an English-speaking Bible study and do discipleship in their home. They are passionate about developing and leading ministries for men, women, and families. It is their hope and desire in the years to come to equip and encourage people of national and international descent to share Jesus Christ within the communities of Paraguay and around the world.
