Frosty & Cathy Hansen
On March 7, 2017, Frosty and Cathy Hansen arrived once again in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, where they previously served with Grace Ministries International from 1993-2004. They were welcomed warmly by the leadership of the Misión Evangélica Bethesda (MEB), the Bolivian churches with which GMI has partnered for decades and who had requested help in reestablishing a program of theological education.
Preparing Bolivians for ministry has been a vital element of the work in Bolivia through the years. Frosty saw this firsthand in 1970-71 when he took a year away from his college studies to live in Santa Cruz as a short-term missionary. At that time a Bible Institute under the direction of Arnie and Sally Selfors and Eduardo and Dorothy Mattias was effectively training men and women who are pastors and leaders in our churches today.
A key development during the Hansens’ first term of service in Bolivia was the establishment of the Centro Teológico Bethesda (CENTEB), an opportunity to once again train men and women for ministry for the first time since the Bible Institute ceased operation many years before.
In 2004 Frosty was called to return to the States to serve as president of the Grace Gospel Fellowship (GGF), the association of pastors, churches, and organizations with which GMI is affiliated. During that time both Frosty and Cathy served as members of the GMI Board, with Cathy chairing the personnel committee. Frosty retired from the GGF in 2016, and the Lord has led them back to Bolivia to reopen the CENTEB and provide ongoing education for current pastors and leaders.
A second floor has been added to the MEB office buildings to accommodate the classrooms needed to train a new generation of Bolivian pastors, church leaders, and future missionaries to reach into other regions of Bolivia and neighboring countries. Frosty has worked with a team of Bolivians to develop curriculum and a program for the ministry training center (CENTEB). He once again is involved in theological education, ministry training, and mentoring. Cathy serves in women’s ministries and is mentoring young women who desire to serve Christ.
Please pray for Frosty and Cathy as they serve Christ in Bolivia during their later years of life, far from their four married children and 11 grandchildren. They are confident the Lord has them in Bolivia now to lay the groundwork for a future work. Pray that the Lord will raise up more workers to help in this task, and that the Bolivian leaders will soon be prepared to effectively lead the work forward
