Zimbabwe_flagZimbabwe_flag2GMI’s connection to Zimbabwe began in 1999 with a trip by late GMI team member Kennedy Simtowe.  At that time, he conducted seminars in the town of Norton about 25 miles southwest of Harare. Following that seminar, he was able to start a small Bible study group or a preaching point.

After several follow-up visits in 2001, Kennedy identified a key couple, Givemore and Sylvia Nyakambiri—who are now serving as GMI team members in Malawi.  Givemore resigned from his employment and committed to go to Zambia Grace Bible Institute (ZGBI) that same year. After his graduation in 2002, Givemore and Sylvia returned to Zimbabwe and began a work in Chinhoyi, GMI’s second preaching point. Due to Givemore’s ministry, GMI was then able to open up its third preaching point in Kariba town on the Zambian border.

In 2014, GMI began working with another group of churches in the Muzarabani Region of Zimbabwe.  Pastors and leaders from these churches have attended the GMI-sponsored International Teacher Training which concluded its last Bible teacher seminar in mid-2023.
