The ministry in Bolivia, South America, is a testimony to God’s grace and faithfulness. The first missionaries who responded to the call to missions pioneered the work in Santa Cruz. They were inspired by the vision of Pastor Henry B. Prince of the Bethesda Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the early 1950s, Santa Cruz was a dusty cattle town with a population of around 40,000. They began an orphan ministry for street children and later started a small mission school and our first church. Today Santa Cruz is a city with a population of around two million and is ranked as one of the fastest growing cities in the world. Through the years, many missionaries have committed their lives to working with the national believers in furthering the cause of evangelism and edification in God’s grace.

Today, our Grace Ministries International team members in Bolivia are working with the national church organization (Misión Evangélica Bethesda, or the MEB) in the areas of evangelism, church planting, teaching, children and youth ministries, and leadership training. There are now 20 churches located in Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, and La Paz. It is a blessing to have faithful Bolivian pastors who minister in these churches. Through MEB schools in Santa Cruz, over 2,000 students (K-12) receive a Christian-based education. The mission camp, Buena Vista, is located on 27 acres of scenic land two hours outside of Santa Cruz. It provides year-round ministry to both youth and adults.

GMI team members, Talo and Patty Vergara, are currently serving in Bolivia with GMI.  One of the ministries is to direct and teach at Centro Bíblico de la Gracia (Grace Bible Center) which trains pastors and church leaders to share God’s grace in Bolivia.
